      <image:title>Mick Healey - Summary</image:title>
      <image:caption>Mick Healey is an HE Consultant and Researcher and Emeritus Professor at the University of Gloucestershire, UK and a Visiting Professor at the University of Westminster. He was one of the first people to be awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in 2000. Until 2010 he was Director of the Centre for Active Learning, a nationally funded Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. He is The Humboldt Distinguished Scholar in Research-Based Learning at McMaster University, Canada. Mick is an experienced presenter. Since 1995 he has given over 500 educational presentations in more than 25 different countries.  He has written and edited over 250 papers, chapters, books and guides on various aspects of teaching and learning in HE, and has over 17,500 citations. His main interests include linking research and teaching, engaging students in research and inquiry, active learning, and student-staff partnerships. His latest books include (2021) Writing about Learning and Teaching in Higher Education: Creating and Contributing to Scholarly Conversations across a Range of Genres (Healey, Mick, Kelly Matthews, and Alison Cook-Sather, 403pp) and (2025) The research-education nexus: Engaging students in research and inquiry (70,000 words, 450 references). Both may be downloaded for free. He is the inaugural Senior Editor of the International Journal for Students as Partners. Mick is often asked to act as an advisor to projects, universities, and governments around the world on aspects of teaching and learning.</image:caption>

Much of the workshop will be spent in discussing how best to complete the application form. This will lead to a discussion of what colleagues need to do to prepare themselves for future applications and how the University can best support them. Mick supported the University of Gloucestershire obtain 12 NTFs between 2000 and 2011, more than any other university relative to its size. He has gone on to successfully mentor applicants from many other universities.</image:caption>

(2019, 35-6) In this interactive workshop we adopt a broad definition of ‘socially-just pedagogies’ which may involve creating ‘places of possibility’ (Osman &amp; Hornsby 2018) through a wide range of topics that explore social inclusion and diverse knowledges (Soudien 2015), including, for example: diversity, inclusion, equity, anti-racism, indigenizing or de-colonising the curriculum, and mental health and well-being. We explore ways of developing socially just pedagogies through student-staff partnerships at different levels from a single teaching session to broad scale changes across an institution.</image:caption>
