The workshop and keynote offered some new and exciting approaches to incorporate undergraduate research into the curriculum. They were very inspirational and I cannot wait to implement the wide range of practical suggestions offered.”

— Anton Wohlers, Chair of Undergraduate Research Conference, Oklahoma State Regents, September 2015

Workshops offered:

  • Linking discipline-based research and teaching to benefit student learning

Students are likely to gain most benefit from research, in terms of depth of learning and understanding, when they are involved actively, particularly through various forms of research and inquiry-based learning.

  • Engaging students in research and inquiry

“All undergraduate students in all higher education institutions should experience learning through and about research” (Healey & Jenkins 2009, 3).

  • Rethinking final year projects and dissertations

This workshop will explore ways in which we can rethink final year projects (including capstone projects) and dissertations, while at the same time retaining a significant element of research and inquiry and deliver key graduate attributes.

  • Institutional strategies to engage students in research and inquiry

By the end of the workshop you should have identified and prioritised a range of strategies for embedding undergraduate research and inquiry across your institution or faculty.
