“Ruth’s keynote and subsequent participatory workshop at our Teaching and Learning Conference 2023 were truly inspirational. Her insights on the conference theme, Beyond satisfaction, student engagement and partnership in learning and teaching, were substantive and illuminating. Through the lens of local, national and international case studies, Ruth strategically connected the theories, policies, and practices of student engagement and partnership in a way that helped us all think through and distil how we can better enhance learning and teaching as individuals and as a partnership learning community.”

Workshops offered:

  • Engaging students through student-staff partnerships

This workshop will explore four ways in which students may be engaged as partners through: a) Learning, teaching and assessment; b) Subject-based research and inquiry; c) Scholarship of teaching and learning; and d) Curriculum design and pedagogic advice and consultancy.

  • Engaging students as change agents in teaching and learning

By involving students in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, we create opportunities for students to act as change agents to enhance the quality of teaching and learning practices and policies in their universities.

  • Pandemic partnerships

“I think my relationship with my students is deeper as a result [of going online]. We are communicating effectively and using humour to get over the hurdles. We are working more collaboratively and teaching each other.”
